OP: ReConnect is an independent BTS fan project created and managed by HopeTrackers. This page explains what the game stores, why, and how long it stays.
When you create an Agent file — a handle, an email address and a password. Your password is hashed before storage; we never hold the original. You are issued an Agent number, which is what you sign in with.
While you play — your codename, XP, districts, missions, badges, streak and charge, and the other records that make up your progress. A session token is kept in your browser so you stay signed in.
Your streaming activity — if you connect ListenBrainz, Musicat or stats.fm, or scrobble directly, we fetch and store the plays needed to work out your progress: track, artist and when it happened. We store your username for that service so we can look you up. We never receive your password for it.
Vote and event proof screenshots — the image is read by text recognition inside your browser before anything is sent, then uploaded to private storage along with the text that was read and a fingerprint of the image. The fingerprint stops the same screenshot being submitted twice.
Badge artwork — artwork uploaded for badges is stored in a public location, so anyone with the link can view it.
Limited game-usage records — we keep a small first-party record of how the game is used: opening the app, opening a district, viewing a screen, building a queue. Each is tied to your Agent number and a random id that lasts only for that browser tab. We use it to understand which parts of the game people actually use.
Keeping things fair — we record sign-in and recovery attempts to limit abuse, and compare streaming usernames between accounts to spot duplicates.
Inactivity warnings — we record that a warning was sent and whether our email provider accepted it, so an account is never deleted without a warning having gone out first.
We use no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking services. The game-usage records above are our own, stay with us, and are never shared or sold. We set no cookies at all. We don't store your IP address, browser user agent, device details or location. We don't sell your data or use it to train AI models. There's nothing to pay for, so we never see payment details.
Your sign-in details and preferences live in your browser's own storage, not in cookies. Clearing your browser data signs you out and resets preferences.
Some pages load fonts from Google Fonts, and embed YouTube (in privacy-enhanced mode) and Spotify players. When those load, those companies receive your IP address and can see you visited that page. We don't control what they do with it and we receive nothing back about you.
The game runs on hosting and email services that keep their own operational logs under their own policies.
If you retire your Agent file — your personal data is permanently deleted. Proof screenshots are queued for removal from storage and deleted automatically, usually within the hour rather than instantly.
If your Agent file goes quiet — after 14 days of inactivity it's deleted, but only once a warning email has been accepted for delivery by our email provider and you've had time to come back. Time on approved leave doesn't count towards the 14 days.
Event proof screenshots — deleted 30 days after the event they belong to ends.
Deletion records — when an account is deleted we keep a short record of what happened. Identifying details in it are removed after 30 days.
Shared content — badge artwork you uploaded stays if other players wear badges made from it, with the link to you removed. Missions you created stay so your teammates keep their history, with your name removed.
“Deleted” isn't the same as “gone from everywhere at once”. Files are removed on an hourly cycle. Encrypted database backups are kept for up to seven days for disaster recovery and aren't edited, so data can survive there until those age out. Service providers may hold their own logs on their own schedules. What we can tell you plainly: nothing identifying is left in the running game, and we never go back to those copies to rebuild anything.
ReConnect does not ask for your age or date of birth, and has no age-verification system. If you're a parent or guardian and believe a child's information is held here, email us and we'll delete the account.
You can retire your Agent file at any time from Settings, which deletes your data. You can also email us to ask what we hold, to correct something, to have it deleted, or to raise any privacy concern:
Please include your Agent number so we can find the right account.
